In this issue, Soldano et al. demonstrate that polymorphisms in nitric oxide synthase genes are associated with neural tube defects, and interactions were observed between all three NOS genes and the folate metabolism pathway.

Also in this issue, there are two papers on the effects on development of drugs that affect estrogen signaling, one a novel aromatase inhibitor, the other a selective estrogen receptor-beta agonist.
