Teratology Society Annual Meeting Highlights - Monday, June 27

Keynote Speaker

Keynote Speaker Stephen F. Kingsmore will deliver his lecture, Translating Rapid Whole Genome Sequences into Precision Medicine for Babies in Intensive Care Nurseries, on Monday morning at 8:00 am in Texas Ballroom D. Dr. Kingsmore developed the 50 hour genome, a process by which doctors are able to decode and interpret a newborn baby’s genome in just two days. Dr. Kingmore’s lecture will touch on advances in whole genome sequencing that that have cut the testing duration to 26 hours.

Morning Sessions

The Wiley-Blackwell Symposium, Neurodevelopmental Deficits from Fetal Exposure to Methamphetamine, Cocaine, and Alcohol: Emerging Mechanisms and Human Consequences, will begin at 9:00 am in Texas Ballroom D. This is a joint session with DNTS.

Platform Session 2 will take place at 9:00 am in Texas Ballroom F. Ten platforms will be delivered during this session touching on the theme of Developmental Teratology and Toxicology.

Afternoon Sessions

The March of Dimes Symposium will be held in Texas Ballroom D at 1:30 pm. This symposium will touch on New Approaches to the Treatment of Birth Defects and will review several examples in which understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying birth defects or genetic diseases has led to the development of novel surgical or medical therapies that substantially improve the lives of affected patients.

A joint session with DNTS, Integrative In Vitro Models for Neurovascular Development Function Symposium, will occur in Texas Ballroom F at 1:30 pm.

Poster Session 1 and Exhibits Attended

Poster Session 1 will begin at 5:30 pm in Texas Ballroom B. A full list of posters presented during this session is available in the Annual Meeting Program on the Annual Meeting website.
