FASEB announces the release of audio versions of four of the latest articles in the Breakthroughs in Bioscience and Horizons in Bioscience series. This new format provides a supplement to the original text articles.

“The audio files will allow people to enjoy the Breakthroughs in Bioscience and Horizons in Bioscience series in a whole new way. Now people can listen and learn about emerging topics in science at home, at work, or in the car,” said Paula Stern, PhD, Professor of Pharmacology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and Chair of FASEB’s Breakthroughs in Bioscience subcommittee. “Together, the audio and print articles offer engaging ways to teach scientific concepts to students of all ages,” she added.

The following audio versions are newly available online:

Breakthroughs in Bioscience

Horizons in Bioscience

Audio versions of Breakthroughs in Bioscience and Horizons in Bioscience articles on Optogenetics: Illuminating the Brain, Spying on Cancer with PET Scans, Conquering Cancer with Drugs from Nature's Medicine Cabinet, and Conquering Pain and Infection with Drugs from Nature's Medicine Cabinet can also be found on the FASEB website.

Breakthroughs in Bioscience is a collection of illustrated articles that highlight recent developments in basic biomedical research and explain how they impact medicine and human health. Horizons in Bioscience are short, illustrated articles describing scientific discoveries on the brink of clinical application. Print and audio version of both the Horizons and Breakthroughs articles are available online at no cost.
