It's National Postdoc Appreciation Week - Free Webinar for TS Postdocs!

The National Postdoctoral Association (NPA) sponsors National Postdoc Appreciation Week (NPAW) to recognize the significant contributions that postdoctoral scholars make to U.S. research and discovery. Institutions from across the country and other parts of the world participate by holding special events. Events will be held throughout the week and across the country to show appreciation and create awareness. Visit the NPAW 2016 Calendar for a schedule of events.

Teratology Society Postdoctoral Fellows are invited to join a special NPAW webinar, entitled The Dos and Don’ts of Landing Your First Job, being offered by the Society of Toxicology this Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Transitioning from a postdoctoral trainee to full-time employee may seem like a daunting task but it is possible with a little planning and insider knowledge on what to expect. During the webinar, tips and strategies will be shared by toxicology experts across the different sectors. The panelists will touch on several topics including a basic timeline on when to start searching for a job, what each sector looks for in a new employee, and where to find/how to apply for positions in their respective fields. Following a short presentation by each speaker, the discussion will open up to participants to freely ask questions to the panelists. Register for this free webinar HERE.

Teratology Society Regular and Associate Members, it's not too late to plan a NPAW event and show your appreciation for the postdoctoral scholars working in your organization! Check out the NPAW Toolkit. This toolkit is designed to help you decide what kind of event you would like to hold, be it a coffee hour, a happy hour, or a combined event with other institutions in your city or region. There are suggestions for different types of events, how to advertise the event, and getting sponsorship for your event. The site also provides fliers for you to download, customize, print out, and pass out.
