Make plans to attend the 57th Annual Meeting of the Teratology Society, June 24–28, 2017, in Denver, Colorado. The theme for this year’s meeting is “World Spotlight: Elevating Birth Defects Research”.

The program offers an exciting variety of scientific sessions on topics related to birth defects including managing the pregnant patient with chronic disease, an update on Zika virus as a teratogen, a look at the future of testing for birth defects, the long-term outcome and quality of life of children with birth defects, metabolic diseases and pregnancy, emerging mechanisms and human consequences of fetal exposure to e-cigarettes and marijuana, CRISPR/Cas9 technology and the study of birth defects, pregnancy registry updates, and more. In addition, there will also be original platform and poster presentations, and a student and postdoctoral career workshop. The details of the program are available via the Annual Meeting website.

The meeting will be held at the Grand Hyatt Denver hotel. The standard room rate for this meeting is $189, plus tax. Make sure to mention the Teratology Society Annual Meeting to receive this rate. This rate is available three days before and three days after the meeting based upon availability. Reservations must be made by May 30, 2017 to secure the meeting rate. Students, act fast to take advantage of the limited special student room rate.

The Teratology Society is pleased to provide a Room Sharing Program. This program is designed to help attendees reduce the cost of attending the Annual Meeting. The room sharing program is open to all 2017 Teratology Society Annual Meeting attendees and is open through May 7.

The Annual Meeting provides us with the opportunity to promote our shared vision and scientific identity as researchers focused on the causes, manifestations, intervention, and prevention of structural and functional birth defects, and reproductive health. It also is an expression of our scientific diversity, as a Society of clinicians, scientists, and science policy regulators, from academic, industrial, and government sectors. There is no better occasion to learn about the latest scientific research in teratology, to interact with internationally known experts, to meet project officers and representatives from funding agencies, and to network with old friends and colleagues. We urge all of you to join us for this special event.

We understand that travel budgets are tight. If you need documentation to submit with your request to attend the meeting, please contact headquarters at tshq@teratology.org

Sincerely,

Sonja A. Rasmussen, MD, MS
Teratology Society President

Alan M. Hoberman, PhD, DABT, ATS
2017 Program Chair
