Friday, March 3rd is World Birth Defects Day. For the third consecutive year, a plethora of international organizations and individuals are collaborating to bring attention to the global public health of birth defects. We invite you to participate!
Join us as we increase the conversation on birth defects and their global effect with the World Birth Defects Day ThunderClap. ThunderClap is a social media tool that allows supporters to sign up in advance to share a unified message at a specific time via their individual Facebook, Twitter, or Tumblr account. The collective action creates a wave of support – or “thunderclap” – across social media. The Thunderclap will go live March 3rd at 9AM EST. Be sure to sign up before then in order to participate!
Don’t worry if you have not heard of a Thunderclap, participation is easy. All you need is either a Facebook and/or Twitter account and a few minutes. If you’re on Facebook and Twitter, use both accounts! Follow the directions below to get started.
Steps to set up your #WorldBDDay Thunderclap message:
Any time before 9:00am EST March 3:
2. Scroll down until you see the red bar that says “Support with Facebook”, “Support with Twitter” and “Support with Tumblr”, and click on the box that is relevant to you.
3. At this step you have the opportunity to make the message your own by customizing the suggested tweet. We advise keeping the hashtag #WorldBDDay and the link provided at minimum for your participation to count as part of the Thunderclap.
4. Click on “Add My Support” in the red bar at the bottom of the screen. At this point, you may receive a prompt stating that Thunderclap will receive your public profile. This gives Thunderclap the ability to share one message on your account. After the one message is sent, no additional messages or posts on your account will occur. Click okay.
5. Please spread the word. Invite friends to join the Thunderclap by sharing a message of your participation on your Facebook, Twitter, or Tumblr: Thunderclap automates a message for you and you have the option to customize this message as well. This notifies your network of colleagues and friends about how they can join the Thunderclap.
