Exciting Opportunities for Exchange and Networking with RSA at Teratology Society Annual Meeting

Dear Teratology Society Members:

As you know the 57th Annual Meeting of the Teratology Society will take place June 24—28, 2017, at the Grand Hyatt in downtown Denver, Colorado. At the same time, just down the street, the Research Society on Alcoholism (RSA) is having their Annual Meeting. I am writing today to let you know about efforts to coordinate with RSA and exciting opportunities for exchange among our groups. I would like to thank Teratology Society member Ludmila Bakhireva and RSA member Jeffrey Wozniak for leading the effort to coordinate these opportunities so that members of both societies may take full advantage of the concurrent meetings this year.

Abstracts

Heather Carskaddan, Teratology Society Executive Director, is in contact with her counterpart at RSA, and they will be working together to minimize scheduling conflicts for those presenting abstracts at both the Teratology Society and RSA Annual Meetings. It is important for anyone who has submitted abstracts to both organizations to send Heather a quick email (hcarskaddan@teratology.org) saying that you have submitted abstracts to both Teratology and RSA.

Limited Opportunity for Teratology Society Members to Participate in RSA Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders Study Group (FASDSG) Workshop

The RSA FASDSG has offered a limited number of free tickets for Teratology Society members to attend the FASDSG workshop planned for Saturday, June 24. In April, a complete agenda for this workshop will be posted, and Teratology Society Headquarters will request RSVPs from anyone interested in taking advantage of this opportunity. The free tickets will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis. Please note that to be eligible you must be registered for the Teratology Society Annual Meeting. A sample agenda for the Saturday FASDSG workshop has been made available to give you an idea of what this event may include. Please note that there is an optional networking luncheon that will require the pre-purchase of a luncheon ticket.

In return for this opportunity for Teratology Society members to participate in the FASDSG workshop at no charge, a limited number of “sampler tickets” will be given to RSA FASDG participants to “sample” sessions at our meeting.

RSA/FASDSG, Teratology Society, OTIS and DNTS Exchange Symposium

On Monday, January 26, a joint symposium will take place at the Grand Hyatt Denver. This symposium, chaired by Ludmila Bakhireva, University of New Mexico and Jeffrey Wozniak, University of Minnesota, is titled “Evaluation of Fetal Risk in the Context of Multiple Co-Exposures.” The symposium will include a networking break and is sure to be a highlight of this year’s annual meeting. Details about the symposium as may be found on the Teratology Society Annual Meeting Website
