Postdoctoral Position - McGill University, Montreal, Canada

Location: Montreal, QC, Canada

Start date: April 2019 or as soon as possible

Professor Barbara Hales, Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Faculty of Medicine, McGill University, is currently seeking a talented Postdoctoral Fellow to join an exciting research team investigating the exposure and effects of exposure to three families of chemicals with activity as endocrine disruptors on human health (EDCs) – bisphenols, phthalates, and flame retardants. The project is multidisciplinary, spanning toxicology/reproductive health, epidemiology, law and business. It aims to produce both health and social science knowledge relevant to understanding ‘regrettable’ and ‘informed’ substitution of EDCs. Ideally, candidates will have a strong interest (and perhaps some experience) in working across disciplinary boundaries and work closely with policy makers. Successful candidates will be co-supervised by Professor Barbara Hales (Medicine, McGill University), Professor Jaye Ellis (Law, McGill University) and Professor Steve Maguire (Business School, University of Sydney).

Qualified candidates should be self-driven and highly motivated individuals with an established track record of success. Applicants must have completed a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline (see above) within the last two years. They should also have experience, or a demonstrated interest, in chemicals management policy and/or the communication of scientific insights to actors in government, civil society organisations, and/or members of the public. In addition, they should have primary publications in highly-ranked English language scientific journals, fluency in written and spoken English, the ability to work cooperatively with members of the lab, and strong organizational skills. The salary for this position will be commensurate with experience. Canadian citizens and permanent residents will be given priority.

The interdisciplinary nature of this appointment provides wide scope for motivated candidates to shape their particular contribution to the project in ways that align with their specific experience and interests.
